College Football Season….

I thought it only appropriate to post about college football with the season starting today.  It’s true, our house is divided.   I’m meticulously crafting mini Gators in our household– teaching my girls that if you’re smart- get good grades and shine in athletics- you can go to the best school in the State– the University of Florida!  Go Gators!  If you want to settle, and be somewhat lackluster, then go ahead and root for daddy’s Seminoles.  What a sad day it will be when they decide which team to be on… which is years from now.  Until then, I’m sure Greg will continue to cook me gator tail– and I’ll listen to his terrible Tebow comments, and banter on facebook with his Seminole War chant… But truly, who would ever want to admit to rooting for the Noles?  Blah…. so, I’m going to sport some ORANGE & BLUE today– and put on a big gator grin… and head to the SWAMP for a real party!   xoxox…-Corrine

After the rain… a rainbow!

When I woke this morning at 7:00 am to start my day, I did as I normally do– grab my cellphone and check to see if I missed anything important from the night.  It’s true– the world does keep on moving even as I am in dreamland.  Although today was different.  I had received a text from a dear friend with news.  Great news.  When I read the text,  I smiled… I was so happy by the news that I thought I might burst into tears.  Happiness and relief rolled into one text message with only a few words– but these words said so much.  The message came from Julie at 12:45 am earlier that morning.  Julie– my college roomie, Maid of Honor & Lifelong friend.  We’ve been through so much over the last few years.  Sometimes it’s just a phone call, or a text message, a martini at Harry’s, or just a big hug…but her friendship has taught me how important it is to surround yourself with people who really care about you.  Having someone to help heal you… and believe in you… is a wonderful gift.    I’m blessed to have her friendship.

Well this morning, the sun was shining brightly with some news.  Just by the few words she texted to me– it seemed like the whole world wore a great BIG smile for Julie.  The kind of smile you dream about and hope for– but sometimes wonder- will it ever come true?  Well– it did.  And in a big way.  Julie did it.  She got THE job!! And not just any job– but her dream job.  Just when you think that it’s time to give up on something– life has a way of surprising you in the most beautiful way.  Comcast offered her an position as co-Anchor for their Washington, D.C. Sports Station.  She has an amazing talent for on-camera reporting– and to be the lead behind the desk– it’s perfect for her.  We are so happy.

In honor of her news, I’m posting some images that Greg took of Julie a few months ago when she came to visit.  She is beautiful from the inside-out– and she deserves all the riches that God has planned for her.  I was reminded today– that even in the darkest of storms, you can pull through.  That when you put the wind to your back and simply believe– that after the rain, there is always a rainbow… waiting to make you smile…  I love you Julie.  Alpha Love & Roses!

My wonderful husband and Julie sharing a sweet laugh for me.  I love you both.  Here’s to that rainbow that is alive in our lives.  I love you both!

Jessica & Rob: An evening reception at The Hilton

When I met with Jessica to start developing the theme for her wedding day florals, I knew that I was going to love working with her.  Her style is very similar to my own– so it makes it an easy process for me… and for her too… we had so much fun.  She wanted a glamorous, evening reception– yet intimate and full of romantic details that the guests would appreciate.  She wanted the cake to be a statement piece at the front of room, and of course, we wanted to bring in lots of orchids.  We worked on the colors, the layouts, the flowers, the chargers– and must have for her– chiavari chairs!!   We enjoyed developing the entire space– and it really came together beautifully.  It was such a treasure to see Jessica (and Rob’s) excitement as the entered the ballroom for their first look.  Their enthusiasm and delight really made me smile.  Thank you both!

We’d also like to give a special thank you to Owen Chittenden of The Hilton Resort for always being so easy to work with.  He continually goes above and beyond for his brides– and for Details!  Thank you Owen!  A few other people helped to make the day special– Marcy “Carley” Rodriguez of With This Ring, was also an intrigual part of the wedding day.  She helped to orchestrate the timeline and make sure that every t was crossed and i was dotted.  Thanks Marcy!   Sherri Meyers of The Pastry Studio made an amazing dessert display and beautiful cake.  It was fabulous!  And a thank you to Leah Jean Photography for graciously allowing our assistant, Lukas, to capture some room details for this blog.  To see more of Jessica & Rob’s pics, you can view them on Leah’s photography blog here.    Jessica was a stunning bride and Leah captured some great shots.

Below are the pictures that our photography assistant, Lukas Harden, captured of the ballroom as we were putting the finishing touches on the designs. It was a great night.  Thank you Jessica & Rob for allowing us to create the details of your day.  For everyone else– Enjoy!!

This is a “Feasting Table” that we designed for the Bridal Party.  Jessica & her bridesmaids added their beautiful bouquets into the empty vases on this table after their entrance to the room.
