Meet Pam and Brendan

Thursday, July 23rd, 2009

Dodging raindrops this time of year is nothing new in Florida–luckily we picked a great day for an outdoor shoot with a fun, inspiring couple. Pam and Brendan’s Wedding is early this fall and taking place near the beach. When collaborating to decide on a great location to shoot their engagement session, we decided to head to the Ormond Memorial Gardens and The Casements– near the new ROCKEFELLER GARDENS. I always enjoy photographing a couple for the first time and getting to know more about them aside from the time we spend in the office chatting about their day. Pam and Brendan were really great and had a lot of fun energy throughout their shoot. I’m definitely looking forward to their wedding at The Shores Resort this coming September. Can’t wait to see you guys– it will be here before you know it!

TLC: “Making Over America” with Trinny & Susannah

Tuesday, July 21st, 2009

I was in a bit of disbelief one day when my caller i.d. listed “TLC: The Learning Channel” on the name description for the incoming call. I will admit that my guilty pleasure is taking in episodes of “John & Kate plus 8″ + “Cake Boss” late into the evening– so I quickly picked up the phone and gave a very welcoming introduction to the voice on the other end. It was Meghan Smith– a producer from TLC– and she needed out help with florals and decorations for an episode of a NEW tv show!! YAY!! How exciting!! The new show is called “Making over America with Trinny and Susannah” and features the Renowned British style experts and the original UK hosts of WHAT NOT TO WEAR Trinny Woodall and Susannah Constantine. WOW! I’ve seen Trinny & Susannah on Oprah in the past– so of course I was thrilled to be asked to participate in their new tv venture and create some gorgeous florals for the night and party.

The actual event took place this weekend at The Casa Monica Hotel in St. Augustine on their beautiful pool deck and Sultan’s Pavillion. The TLC producers closed the set to photography (tear)– so I don’t have any pictures to show of our creations from the day– however, I’m very excited to announce that the episode will be rolling out in just a few short weeks and it is airing internationally. I’ll be sure to post information about the schedule for showtimes and when you can catch a peek of the show! Here is an image of the dynamic fashion duo– we’re looking forward to working with TLC again!

Casa Monica Brochure

Tuesday, July 21st, 2009

Today I received the announcement that the Casa Monica’s printed brochure has gone to PRESS and would be arriving soon! When we were approached to participate in their 2009-2010 publication a few months back, we were very excited and immediately said “YES!!” The Casa Monica is an outstanding venue in one of our favorite cities! Greg and I love to stroll the streets in & around this amazing venue– there are many wonderful spots for pictures and unique places to step back into time. The Casa Monica is gorgeous– with stylish, sophisticated charm. Their well-orchestrated team continually produces perfect nights for the brides & groups that come to stay. Hawthorn Publications, who created the design of the brochure, sent us the e-brochure link to see the finished product– and we are thrilled to see our imagery within the pages. Check it out!

Greg’s birthday surprise…

Saturday, July 18th, 2009

About a month ago, we joined the Adventure Boat Club here in Daytona Beach.  If you are interested in having a fleet of boats to chose from on nearly any day– this is a great club to be a part of.  They having fishing boats, wakeboard boats, cabin cruiser boats, pontoon boats– about 30 different boats to choose from.  We joined the club with a weekday membership– since we are typically working at weddings on the weekend.  It’s been great fun for all of us.  The kids are loving the open ocean and tubing; and we’ve  taken so many of our friends & family to enjoy it too!  It’s great fun to pack a lunch, bring a couple of beers and explore nature.

Well, for Greg’s 31st birthday, we took a 26′ Key West fishing boat out near Ponce Inlet, Florida. Just Greg and I– for some rest and relaxation– and hopes of catching some BIG fish.  We were out about 20 miles trolling for Mahi Mahi when we noticed three Atlantic bottlenose dolphins approaching our boat. We were surprised when they started putting on a performance for us. It was AWESOME!  The best part is that Greg caught all of the amazing action of film.  Here is some video for your enjoyment– we were both truly enjoying the moment!  (I think the Dolphin were too!)

If you’d like to come with us on a boating adventure– give us a ring!  We love any excuse to share these boating adventures with our friends and family.  Who knows what we’ll see next!?

Vanessa & Josh: The Wedding Day

Tuesday, July 14th, 2009

Vanessa & Josh chose the Chapel and Tavern in the Garden for the backdrop for their wedding day.  If you have ever strolled through this lush garden you know just how beautiful it is.  Perfectly Garden-like.  And if you haven’t made it over there– you are certainly missing out!  The historic little chapel is uniquely tucked into the lush landscape of a very well-maintained garden.  I love it!  The area surrounding the chapel is serene and gorgeous– with cottages, koi ponds and aviaries around every corner.  Perhaps it’s because Greg and I were married in a garden (Maison & Jardin–nearly 10 years ago),  but a garden wedding holds a special place in my heart.  It’s always nice to see the couples that lean towards the garden-atmosphere and the parallels we share as couples.  I love the natural beauty and tranquility that nature displays and a garden is perfect to notice those elements.  It’s certainly a photographers dream!  (that is speaking from the heart of a true florist– what photographer wouldn’t love extra flowers!!  Come on now!!)

The garden backdrop is perfect, especially when you have a beautiful bride and handsome groom to walk through it and capture!  It was apparent on their wedding day that Vanessa & Josh were so happy to be in those moments together.  Together, they had spent months thinking about all of their plans– and for me– it was very sweet  to witness Vanessa stepping into the Tavern to see her reception– finished.  It was beautiful– with the slightly addition of pink that she requested!   She was truly loving all the DETAILS that we had decided on– and I was happy to lend a hand in bringing it all together!  But most of all, I was so happy to see her reaction.  It’s my favorite part of the day!

To give you a glimpse into the rest of Vanessa & Josh’s wedding– here are some of our favorite images that Greg & Lukas photographed.  It so hard to narrow down the list to only a few, so I’ve probably added far too many– but it’s my responsibility to share the DETAILS with all of you!  To Vanessa & Josh, a special thank you for allowing us to be part of your day!  You were wonderful!  Enjoy each other!

Tell us what you think!!!

It’s that time of year again: Bridal Shows! We are really excited to showcase a lot of the new items we are offering to our brides, and one of the best places to meet YOU is at a bridal show. It is a great way to see lots of unique ideas and get started on your plans for your big day. Well, for us, I typically like to come up with a very unique inspiration wedding– and pull together so great ideas for a “dream” day. It’s so hard to select a theme for the day– so I thought I’d put together a poll to see what YOU may like us to do. These are so of the colors/ideas we’ve been tossing around … tell us what you think!!

Come to the Bridal Fantasy show on August 30th at the World Golf Village in St. Augustine to see what we create based on this poll!!

Kendall & Trevor!!

Friday, July 10th, 2009

We had a ton of laughs and a beautiful evening at the beach when we shot the engagement images last Friday.  Kendall and Trevor were in town for the 4th and it seemed like a severe thunderstorm might interupt our plans.  But thanks to weather.com, I could see there was plenty of blue sky and puffy-white clouds in store for later in the day, we modified our start time to keep us dry.  And finished just before the next line of storms came.  It was fun.
