Katie & Brett: One Last Dance

Friday, July 3rd, 2009

It’s not often that I am able to assist Greg in his photo shoots–as I’m typically working on the design of the wedding day, or at home with the kids. But this was a very special day for us– and I wanted to be there to help fluff Katie’s dress or lend a hand wherever I might be needed. I’m so glad that I was there.

A few weeks ago, our girls came home from a day out with their grandmother. Avery, an avid horselover, raved on and on about the baby horse that they played with at Grandma Marilyn’s friend Lynn’s sisters home (did you catch that?? Phewww!) Lynn’s sister was having friends over to witness this beautiful young colt, and the girls were excited to have a day in the life of this new creature. When they got home, their eyes were filled with delight and excitement– it had been quite a day for them. It wasn’t until hours later when all the pieces came together we realized that this same location was that of The Youngman’s. Katie’s parents. What a small world. I was astonished at how the people and situations enter our life– and sometimes you just need to step back and let God “take the wheel.”

For the One Last Dance session, we started at the home of Katie’s parents’ in Ormond Beach. This is the house where Katie grew up. There are so many beautifiul images of Katie and Kerry on the walls of their home, and for a moment, it’s as though I’m peaking into the future and seeing my own daughters all grown up– Then getting married. It was a really unique day and experience. We were so glad to spend a few hours photographing Katie and Brett at this beautiful location, then at the chapel where they were married. Katie and Brett did not have time to go to the beach on their actual wedding day, so it was great to go there too. I loved hearing all of the “Congratulations!” from the beach goers– they didn’t know that their wedding was months ago.

Katie and Brett– thank you for such a wonderful, welcoming day. To Mr. and Mrs. Youngman, thank you for sharing your home to us– but also a thanks to our girls– and sharing your baby horse. They have such beautiful memories of that day

We are hopeful that these images will grace your walls of your home for your own grandchildren to enjoy. All the best– Corrine & Greg
